A few days ago Columbia University held their 7th Annual African Economic Forum. The forum tackled a variety of issues from Trade vs Aid to the World Cup in South Africa this June. The highlights of the forum definitely were the African Fashion Going Global panel moderated by Africa Style Daily’s Zandile Blay and Branding Africa panel moderated by CNN’s Lola Ogunnaike. Both conversations generated a spirited and at times heated debate about how to embrace the evolving economic and cultural dynamics impacting the African diaspora.

The opportunity to dialogue about key issues and fellowship with others who have a vested interest in the future of Africa was refreshing. As folks who participated in the forum exchanged ideas and business cards, there was a sense in the air that the tide is truly changing. One could not help, but leave the forum inspired and ready to get out their dreams.
