Directed by Howard University professor & Ethiopian filmmaker, Haile Gerima, this film is about hope and the human condition in Ethiopia during the post-Emperor Haile Selassie period. Centered around the character Anberber (Aaron Arefe), an intellectual who returns to Ethiopia, after studying in Germany, only to find it in peril under Marxist rule. A stranger in his own land, Anberber is forced to deal with feelings of disillusionment and the demons from his past.
