Lala Vazquez-Anthony Talks Reality in New Issue of Vibe Vixen

Published by TwanaTells on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 12:21 pm.

Media personality and REAL basketball wife, La La Vazquez Anthony is covering the premiere of Vibe Vixen’s digital issue. In her interview, the former MTV VJ dishes on her VH1 reality show, Lala’s Full Court Life, and bringing awareness to gay rights issues (her lesbian cousin, Dice, is a regular on the show).

On what to expect from LaLa’s Full Court Life:
I think people seem to be excited about it which makes me excited. People are going to find the show very interesting. It documents when Melo was traded to New York which was the biggest thing ever and [shows] just exactly how a trade goes down. And you get to see me and my friends. Whether it’s Kelly Rowland, Serena Williams, Kim Kardashian, we’re all supporting each other and being there for each other. It’s a good balance on television to see successful women supporting each other, having a really strong bond and great friendship. I think it’s necessary for people to see that too on television.

On the topic of LGBT sexuality that arise on the show:
My cousin Dice is a big part of my reality show and what’s important to me about Dice besides, obviously, that being my cousin and one of my best friends, is Dice is dealing with sexuality issues and different things like that. I think it’s important to see things like that on television because you have a lot of people struggling with who they are and trying to find themselves and worrying about if people aren’t going to accept them, and it’s good that we touch on these issues on the show. I think that can help a lot of people.

Kelly Rowland On Beyonce’s Pregnancy: “I Have Known For Quite a While, and She’s Happy”

Published by TwanaTells on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 1:27 pm.

After the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards R&B singer Kelly Rowland was spotted hanging out at the 4th Annual House of Hype party at the SLS Hotel and revealed that she knew about Beyonce pregnancy for quite sometime now. “I have known for quite a while, and she’s happy, and Jay is happy, and that’s all that counts.”

According to an inside source, Beyonce is a little over three months in her pregnancy. Rumor has it she wasn’t going to make the announcement at last night’s awards show, but excitement got the best of her and she couldn’t hold the secret in any longer.

“I think she’ll be an incredible mother, because she’s always been motherly. I think that she takes after so many traits from her mother. And I just think it’s going to be so natural for her. Its natural for her now,” added Rowland.

Beyonce To In Style Magazine: “Women Who Don’t Have Female Friends Scare Me”

Published by TwanaTells on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 1:43 pm.

Beyonce is glowing on the cover of the upcoming issue of In Style Magazine. The “Run The World” singer, looking fierce in a Dolce & Gabbana mini-dress, shared her guilty pleasure (MTV’s Jersey Shore), the importance of having female friends, and being a wife and mother—in the future of course.

Check out a few excerpts from the interview below:

On making time for her girlfriends:
I am a girl’s girl. Women who don’t have female friends scare me. I love my friends, and I love sitting with them and listening to their stories

On being in the industry at such an early age:
I sacrificed so much as a kid and as a teenager, I have no regrets because my job kept me focused. When you’re young 18 or 19 you have the energy and drive. That’s the time to work as hard as you can.

On her recent break from the industry and focusing on her marriage:
It was great to be a wife and travel with [my husband]. I had to turn down great things. I did it for my sanity, my life, my relationships, my nephew, my husband, my sister and my friendships. I deserved to give myself time to focus on things besides performing, filming and recording.” I can focus on my marriage. I can decide I want to have kids. I can be the mother I want to be and dedicate myself to my children.

Check out behind the scenes video from her shoot below:

The issue hits newsstands everywhere August 19th

Tami Roman On “Basketball Wives”: “The Producers Have Done a Fantastic Job of Blowing Out of Proportion One Aspect of My Personality”

Published by TwanaTells on Monday, August 15, 2011 at 11:56 am.

VH1 “Basketball Wives” star Tami Roman, is gracing the cover of the upcoming issue of Rolling Out Magazine. Inside the issue, Tami opens up about her personality outside the drama on the show, as well as why she decided to join the cast.

Roman, the former wife of retired NBA player Kenny Anderson, also opened up about the financial hardships she faced before joining the show as a single mother raising two daughters.

Check out a few excerpts from the interview below:

On why she joined “Basketball Wives?”

Well, I watched the first season of “Basketball Wives” and just felt like the things that I was going through weren’t really represented on the show. I had been a basketball wife, and now that I was divorced, things weren’t as golden as they portrayed on the show. I wasn’t eating out and getting manicures every day … and I wasn’t drinking all night, every night. That wasn’t my world, so for me, I felt like my individual story would be valuable.

You’re a television veteran, but were you prepared for the real-time responses and
criticisms that celebrities now experience with social media?

When I did the “Real World,” we didn’t have Facebook, Twitter, or blogs, so I didn’t really know how people felt about the things that I did, [unless] they took the time to write a fan letter. So social media is very new to me, and it’s
something I had to get used to because people will criticize you, judge you and lash out at you. People will feel like that can say anything to you and you’re just supposed to take it. I haven’t always done that because I’m a human being
with feelings. So if you hurt me or my loved ones, I’m going to address it accordingly. I realize now that I can’t do that though, I can’t curse out every person who doesn’t like me on Twitter.

Do you feel like the producers have done a good job portraying you?

I think that the producers have done a fantastic job of blowing out of proportion one aspect of my personality. Now I’m not going to say that it’s the editing, and I’m not going to try and blame it on anything else, because Tami will go off on you [laughs] … that is a part of my personality. Whether you like it or not, I’m going to tell you the truth because I feel like everybody should be able to deal with the truth. That way, you can know what you’re dealing with. I’ve always been a big fan of that, of honesty and loyalty. So while what you see on TV is a part of my personality, it’s not all of who I am. I think that the audience who watches “Basketball Wives” is only seeing that aspect of my personality 100 percent magnified. They don’t see me working with my charity, and they didn’t see me when I was a part of corporate America going to work in a business suit every day. And they don’t see me with my mother, or me with my dude. There’s so much about me that you don’t see because that’s not what “Basketball Wives” wants to show. Read the rest of this entry »

Twana’s Daily Scoop// Jada Pinkett-Smith Dishes On How She Keeps Her Marriage Hot in Redbook Mag

Published by TwanaTells on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 2:41 pm.

It seems like only yesterday, Jada Pinkett-Smith, was portraying the sass-talking around the way girl Lena James on “A Different World”. Two decades and 25 movies later, the Baltimore bred actress, who is now starring in the third season of TNT’s “HawthoRNe”,  is covering the August issue of Redbook magazine.

In the behind the scenes clip from the cover shoot, Pinkett-Smith opens up about keeping her relationship with actor Will Smith, hot and spicy after 12 years of marriage.

How do you keep your connection with Will?

Talk. Or the other day, because I’ve been working a lot, I said to Will, “Be ready at 2:30.” He said, “Where are we going?” I said, “Don’t worry about it.” So I put together a picnic basket and drove us to this hiking trail that I’d taken him to when we first met. No Secret Service, nothing. I got the idea because that morning he’d been reading a book on architecture, and he told me that it said the only replenishment for the soul is nature. Now, I’ve always known that’s true for me, but for a dude to say “nature,” I’m like, “Wow!” I said to myself, I’m going to take him on that hike. So we went up and had a really nice afternoon. We were there for about an hour, just sitting on a bench overlooking the canyons. I’m getting teary just thinking about it. We were both replenished and so happy and connected in that one hour. It doesn’t take a lot of time. Once again, it’s just being aware and present enough to know what that other person wants. What does he want today? Read the rest of this entry »

Twana’s Daily Scoop// Jennifer Hudson Tells UK’s Daily Mail: “Dreams Do Come True. If Anyone’s Proof of That, It’s Me”

Published by TwanaTells on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 12:30 pm.

After giving birth to her son Academy and Grammy Award winning entertainer Jennifer Hudson lost over 80 pounds with the help of Weight Watchers. And although she is half the woman she use to be, Hudson admitted that she did not allow her former dress size hold her back.

In a recent feature in the UK publication, Daily Mail , the “No One Gonna Love You” singer opened up about weight discrimination in the industry.

She also opened up about moving back to her native Chicago after the death of her mother, brother and nephew; and her position as a role model and inspiration to others.

Check out a few excerpts from the interview below:

On if the industry discriminated against her when she was considered to be plus size:

‘No, because I was doing OK before,’ Jennifer says. ‘But the truth is, so many more opportunities open up when you’re on the other side, as I am now. I’d no idea what I was missing out on. It’s like a whole other world. Suddenly every designer wants to dress you. It’s like, “You look amazing! Please, choose a dress. Have a bag. And what about shoes?” I mean, wow!’
