KISS MY FANNY: 80′S STAPLE GETS UPGRADE

There are so many trends from the 80’s I would prefer not to be brought back— and up until lately—the illustrious fanny pack was one of them. BUT for some unknown reason this ubiquitous accessory of yore has resurfaced (“Belt Bag” sound familiar?). With celebs being spotted rocking the fanny, it makes me question whether this retro fad will begin to spread like wildfire. While I must admit, the fannies worn by Rihanna and Kanye don’t move me to search a thrift store in search of this throwback, YANA HANDBAGS has definitely defeated my repulsed fanny thoughts.
The three year old handbag company—helmed by Artist and Designer Ayana Evans—has updated the fanny pack, making them eco-friendly and fashionable. Unlike their 80’s predecessor, YANA’s “belt-bags” are made of repurposed leather and treated with vegetable dyes. With five different colors to choose from and 2-3 different ways to rock them (around the waist, across the body or off the shoulder) these bags are an affordable luxury and just enough nostalgia.
