There are very few indie producers and rappers that can tout reconginition on major media outlets such as New York Magazine and National Public Radio (NPR). But Black Milk has done just that. While most would argue the Detroit native is better skilled at production than his flow, his newest effort Album of the Year should bring about lyrical accolades. Milk’s on-point drum kicks and smooth sampling is prevalent throughout—not to mention the the influence of the late James Yancey a.k.a Dilla driving the underbelly of rhythms.

Milk shares his musical real estate with other Detroit artist including up and coming vocalists Monica Blaire, Melanie Rutherford, Denaun Porter; and well established MC’s Elzhi and Royce 5′9.

Nivea covering Sade? Granted, it’s a rather unexpected move from this R&B singer; but before you toss this link around at work as a total afront to all things sacred in R&B…give this a listen. It seems the Savannah, GA native has come a long way since her 2002 self-titled debut. Quite the ballsy move to cover a Sade classic. But Nivea Undercover—the mixtape of which the track is featured—should be interesting to say the least.

After her last single ”Freak” failed to make waves on the charts, R&B singer Estelle, is hoping to strike out with her latest single “Fall in Love.”  The UK-bred performer released two new videos for the single. The first features her label head and mentor John Legend and the second mix features Rapper Nas. This sounds promising. But wouldn’t it have been hot if they were ALL on the same track?
