(Austin, TX) Famed blogger and music enthusiast Perez Hilton hosted his annual “One Night In Austin,” at Austin Music Hall last week during this year’s South By Southwest music festival. Now in it’s fifth year in association with The BMF Media Group, Hilton curated a diverse roster of entertainers for the showcase that included performances by, B.o.B, Timbaland, and, Miguel.
This year’s event benefited VH1’s Save The Music campaign, with 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales supporting the foundation’s mission to equip public school students with the tools they need to “lead, innovate and create.”
Hilton has taken his “One Night In…” series around the globe with past events in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, and London. Past headliners have been Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, Estelle, Kanye West, and N.E.R.D.
“Music is the answer!” said Hilton to the “One Night” crowd. And so it is.
(Austin, TX) “My success was not overnight. [Maybach Music Group] started as a dream, MMG started in a basement. It took me over a decade to get where I’m standing now,” said rapper Rick Ross to a standing room only crowd at the popular FADER FORT presented by Converse.
The “Aston Martin Music” star closed out the annual event—a go-to for South By Southwest attendees—with a hit filled set. From “I’m Not A Star,” to “Hustlin’,” Ross (called Rozay by many) had fans reciting every lyric word for word—including singer Solange Knowles, who was spotted in the crowd.
“Every boss in the game started as a [expletive] worker, so build it from the ground up, do it self made and be rich forever,” he advised the crowd before blasting through a high energy version of “Rich Forever,” the title track off his recently released mixtape.
Ross’ performance marked the last day of the four day all-star music showcase that included performances by, Kendrick Lamar, Big K.R.I.T., The Dream, and Alice Smith.
Brooklyn Bodega and The Couch Sessions joined forces to present THE CIRCUS, a two day music event held at The Gypsy Lounge, showcasing performances by Miguel, Pharoahe Monch, and a slew of independent artists—all specializing in electro-soul, urban rock, Hip-Hop, and R&B.

(Austin, TX) The Dream brought his infectious R&B hits to The Fader Fort stage last Friday [March 16], blasting through his arsenal of hits, and premiering new ones. The Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter and producer’s forty minute set was the perfect showcase of tunes from his LOVE album trilogy, and his upcoming Love IV MMXII.

(Austin, TX) Day two of THE FADER FORT Presented by Converse, marked the return of singer Alice Smith, who has been absent for nearly six years. Held last Thursday [March 15], the singer was in rare form, hitting the stage in a midriff baring top, electric blue jeans and leopard Christian Louboutin pumps.
Smith, who’s only release to date has been her critically acclaimed 2006 album, For Lovers, Dreamers & Me; performed a mix of old material, new material and covers—most notably a sultry rendition of Cee-Lo Green’s Grammy Award winning song, “Fool For You.”
Fans that have been waiting patiently for new material, will be please to know that she is hitting the road and gearing up for the release of an EP later this month.

(Austin, TX) In what was touted as one of the most anticipated events of this year’s South By Southwest (SXSW) interview series, Nas sat with marketing guru Steve Stoute, for a candid one hour interview, that found the emcee sharing his thoughts on the current state of hip-hop, fatherhood, and life after marriage.
“As a single man, I’ve realized I don’t know how to do anything,” he shared as he talked about living since his divorce from singer Kelis in 2009.
Rarely one to do interviews, Nas (ne Nasir Jones) shared stories of his late friend and fellow emcee Tupac Shakur (“Our friendship was an interesting one”), and how his lyrics changed after the birth of his daughter, Destiny.
The interview served as the precursor to his performance at Austin City Limits, that found him performing is classic 1994 debut album, Illmatic, in its entirety.
Last week marked the release of “The Don,” the first single off his upcoming album Life Is Good.
(Austin, TX) Grammy Award nominated jazz pianist and Centric Selects artist Robert Glasper performed to a packed crowd during his South By Southwest (SXSW) showcase last Thursday [March 15] at the popular Elephant Room. Glasper, who recently released his fifth studio album, Black Radio, to critical acclaim; played a set filled with jazz standards (John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme”) and never-before heard material. He was joined by singer and musician, Casey “Heavy” Alexander; bassist, Derrick “Maxwell” Hodge, and drummer, Mark Colenburg.
(Washington, D.C.) Trey Songz and his abs took on Constitution Hall for his “Anticipation 2our” over the weekend. With Big Sean in tow as his opening act, Mr. Steal Yo’ Girl ran through his arsenal of hits to a packed house of screaming female fans—”Say Ahh” (screams), “I Invented Sex” (more screams), “Love Faces” (deaf).
