The attention made such an impact that Chi-town’s own Common and newcomer Melanie Fiona rubbed their eyes and stretched their soul beings for the cause. Each artist has centered their musical expertise for a spectacular remake of the 70’s Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes classic ‘Wake Up Everybody.’ When the original song was introduced in 1975, the group that introduced the world to the late great Teddy Pendergrass sang a message filled with cultural acceptance and societal realities. Fiona and Legend merge vocals that uplift while The Roots and Common reinforce thought-provoking rhymes. Wake Up Everybody! and listen to the remix below.
