Can Someone Give The Ethnic Children On Glee Some Lines?

Some of these kids are doing their own thing...
I appreciate the producers of Fox’s TV series Glee for having gone to such great lengths to ensure their show’s potpourri casting is a virtual rainbow of sangin’ diversity, but I’m still left just shy of full. Can we get powerhouse Mercedes Jones (played by Amber Riley) and the smiling, but mute brother (one that the Glee website doesn’t even bother to list as cast) more than the jazz riffs and gospel wails to punctuate other cast members songs?
While we’re at it can the Asians and the Hispanics on the show get more than a “diversity” episode too? I’m glad that all these talented young people of color are getting major exposure in what amounts to an American Idol pop culture phenom, but always playing second fiddle to the romantic triangles of white folks is oh so 80s. Hell, even Fame, did a better job at spreading the scripts around to “Leroy” and Janet.
Say, let’s be really edgy and have the pretty yellow black boy actually like and pursue the full-figured brown-skinned black girl,,give ‘em a couple of love songs, shooot let’s throw the asian dude in the mix for a little tension. Do that and we’ll almost forgive you for making Mercedes all but say “Dy-no-mite” in every episode. Almost.
Give the producers a hand. Tell them what you want to hear Amber Riley and some chocolate snuggle bunny do and sing next season?
