Legendary R&B singer El Debarge has decided to cancel his upcoming tour dates to check into rehab. The legendary hit-maker released a statement revealing that he was going to take time to focus on fixing his issues. ”I hate to disappoint my fans but it is necessary for me to take the time to work on me so that I may continue to share my music and my story with everyone,” said the star in the statement.

Following a stellar performance at the 2010 BET Awards, El set off what was a major comeback. He released “Second Chance”—his first album after 16 years—and hit the road in a series of tours.

He has postponed all of his scheduled performances on a tour with Kem and Ledisi, which was scheduled to start in Houston, Texas this Thursday. Musiq Soulchild will replace him on the bill.
