Black Santa For The Blue-Collar Masses
“This has been a tough economic year for so many,” says Marcell & The Truth frontman, Marcell Russell, “we would like to offer you the chance to download any of our songs for free.” Named one of the best albums of the year by BET/Centric, Echoes Magazine, and SoulTracks.com, Marcell and The Truth’s Symbols is literally being given away in its entirety to anyone who downloads it from Christmas Day until New Years Day (early downloaders can ignore the notice about the giveaway ending on Xmas, it’s extended.). Michael Baisden and Dave Brown fans have been respectively jamming to “Cant Wait” and “Just To Be Loved” for weeks. Those fans shouldn’t sleep on the blue-collar love of “It’s Kinda Like” and “All I Know,” the house-flavored dance grooves “Seed Your Water” and “Lost In The Moment,” or our personal faves “Whole Again” and the socially conscious “Symbols,” when selecting your free downloads.
As if the Baltimore-based soul band wasn’t giving away enough by handing over what is easily one of the best traditional soul band recordings in years, they are also giving away their award-winning 2007 debut, Hopes Too High, with steppers jams like “Breathe Love,” “Time Stops,” and the Maze-flavored “Evil Woman.” This simmering debut went on to secure four 2007 SoulTrack Award Reader’s Choice Award nominations and win multiple Heatseekers Awards and the top prize on the steppers circuits, ChiSteppers’ 2007 Artist of the Year.
Who just gives away these kinds of gems? The kind of artists who prove they are what they sing: messengers of love. To receive their generosity follow Brother Russell’s instructions and just breathe the love of Marcell and The Truth all day.
“Just visit the site, click “Store” tab, scroll down and start downloading at www.marcellandthetruth.com. Happy New Year and continued blessings.” instructs Russell, the Black Santa of ‘09.
