1. Mos Def to Star In Jackie Brown Prequel
The rapper/actor formerly known as Mos Def is heading back to the big screen, and his latest role will have him filling in the shoes of Samuel L. Jackson.

Yasiin Bey has signed on to co-star in a prequel to the 2002 Quentin Tarantino classic Jackie Brown alongside veteran indie actor John Hawkes, Variety reports. [MORE]

2. Talib Kweli Honors Black History Month with PBS Documentary
More than four decades ago, Swedish journalists came to America to make a documentary about the Black Power movement. The footage, including interviews with Stokeley Carmichael, Angela Davis and Eldridge Cleaver, was filed away in a vault for 30 years. This important historical chronicle surfaces on PBS’s Independent Lens as The Black Power Mixtape 1967–1975, augmented by contemporary commentary by artists like Erykah Badu, Questlove and Talib Kweli. 3. M.I.A. Flips Middle Finger at Super Bowl Halftime Show
With Madonna’s storied history of stirring controversy through her edgy videos and stage shows, it was hard to believe that an extravagant Super Bowl halftime show featuring the pop icon would go down without any issue.

Surprisingly, during the opulent halftime show on Sunday, it wasn’t the Material Girl who played the role of troublemaker. Instead it was her guest performer, British rapper M.I.A., who stuck her middle finger in the proverbial pot and stirred up the controversy. [MORE]
