RETRO CENTRIC// Public Announcement “Body Bumpin’ (Yippie-Yi-Yo)”
Published by Justin Joseph on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 9:16 am.Public Announcement first stepped out on the scene as the background singers and dancers for the then unknown, R. Kelly. In 1992, the group and Kelly, released their platinum debut, Born into the 90s which yielded a string of R&B hits including, “Honey Love,” and “Slow Dance (Hey Mr. DJ).”
Following the success of the album, R. decided to go solo, leaving the men of Public Announcement on their own. After some personnel changes, the fellas landed a record deal and released the album All Work, No Play in 1998. The project featured the group’s first and only top five Billboard Hot 100 hit, “Body Bumpin’ (Yippie-Yi-Yo).”
Don’t forget to tune in for A Night of Love with R. Kelly kicking off February 11th at 10P/9C.
