Rogiérs Is Kind of Blue
Published by L. Michael Gipson on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 10:33 am.You know how much we love to bring you “free” music, particularly when it’s fresh, unique and oh so sexy. You get all of that and more with the agile tenor who made us melt in 2008 with his smoldering debut album Life & Music: All Of It. Spawning such underground hits as “Hollywood Story (feat Bilal),” “Come Into My World” and “Fa Sho,” the former keyboardist and background singer for Alicia Keys demonstrated just how ready he was to claim his spotlight. Still front and center, he generously delivers us two blazing downloads recorded live with Soul Cycle at Joe’s Pub. On these freebies, Rogiérs takes a stab at Andre 3000’s “Prototype” and Miles Davis’s “Blue In Green” from Davis’s legendary Kind of Blue album. Jazzy soulsters Soul Cycle can also be seen touring with Rogiérs who also has a feature turn or two on Soul Cycle’s latest project, Mosaic. You’ve got seven days to get into these live ditties (cop ‘em here). Wait too long and you gotta cough up some chips to experience the genius of Rogiérs. But, I promise he’s worth it.
