Call us overzealous El Debarge fans, but on “Lay With You” from his album Second Chance, the legendary singer says all the right things, “I would love you to stay with me a little while longer, I could look at you all day long, Can’t get enough of you.” Pair up his falsetto with the angelic voice of Faith Evans, and you have musical magic. IN VIDEO// Faith Evans “Gone Already”

Published by admin on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 1:39 pm.

Faith Evans has been missing in action for 5 years—which in fan years feels like eons.  But thankfully the wait will soon be coming to an end with the release of the highly anticipated Something About Faith next Tuesday (October 5th).  With the production from Chucky Thompson and Salaam Remi— along with collaborations with Keyshia Cole, Estelle and Kelly Price—this album looks to be a sure fire hit. The first single “Gone Already” is a solid ballad. The looping piano riff and simple allure of Faith’s vocals, will wash away any thoughts of her absence and make us all take note of her return. Check the video below. —Ann Marie Collymore

Between Faith Evans and Keyshia Cole, there certainly is enough spunk, which only makes the magnetic single “Can’t Stay Away”, from Evans’ upcoming album Something About Faith jam-packed with sistatude. with its nimble Biggie twist (“Baby, baby, baby, can’t you see? Somehow your love just hypnotize me…”), speaks on addictive love like no other. Take this joint for a spin.

HE GOT THIS: “Godfather of Go-Go” Chuck Brown Talks New Generation, Chucky Thomas and His New Album

Published by admin on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 1:39 pm.

Sixty five years ago, a little boy named Chuck Brown stood proud beside his mother and sang the Lord’s praises to an eager congregation. Little did those faithful listeners know that same little boy would grow to become the “Godfather of Go-Go”.  Fusing Gospel, Jazz and Blues, Brown created a blissful marriage that birthed Go-Go–live instruments with hard hitting beats and killer rhythms that physically pull you from your chair to the dance floor. The creation of Go-Go made him a staple in the entertainment industry and a living legend. At 74 years old, Chuck has released over 20 albums and his latest live album–We Got This (released Sept. 21st) features the boastful talents of Jill Scott, Ledisi and Marcus Miller. It’s clear that this innovative legend—and Washington, D.C native— isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. To let Chuck tell it, “I still have the desire. I’ve still got some fire. I’m still getting hired, so I don’t feel I’m supposed to be retired.”

Over the years, it’s become clear that his music transcends genre and time. Artists like Amerie, Nelly, Wale and Eve have used elements of Go-Go music—even samples of Brown’s music— to funk up their records. Still basking in the glow of the release of We Got This, Chuck sat down to chat with Centric about humility, Miles Davis stealing his drummer and his new project. Read the rest of this entry »
