Los Angeles based duo Jack Davey and Brook D’Leau—better known as  J*DaVeY—have finally released their highly anticipated album New Designer Drug, their first album in nearly four years.

“Seeing this project through has been a test of strength, will, and ultimate patience. On this day of final delivery, I feel the same empowerment I felt the day we started this long awaited album,” says Jack Davey.

Featuring guest appearances from Thundercat, Dave Sitek, Polyester The Saint, Kenneth Crouch, Questlove, Khari Ferrari and Greg Wells; the group continues to fuse elements of hip-hop, R&B, funk and electronic music, making quite the successful 11 track album. Listen to it below:

Just like their sound, musical duo J*Davey always makes sure that their videos are striking and different. The latest video? “Raincheck”—a featured single on their Evil Christian Cop EP. Directed by John Mazyck, the video happens in reverse –from the *ahem* morning after to the chance meeting at a bar. Sexy and bold, J*Davey makes sure that this raincheck  is one you want to cash in.

The New World Culture tour featuring J*Davey and Blu rolled through Washington D.C. this past week to a sold out crowd. The crowd—who were obviously restless from waiting through the sets of local singer Alison Carney and Res—were all energy as  J*Davey took the stage performing a soulful cover of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. With lead singer Jack Davey on vocals and guitar, and Brook D’Leau on drums; the two performed tracks from all of their releases as well as a new track from the forthcoming album, “New Designer Drug”.

Los Angeles-based new wave soul duo J*DaVeY, and Long Beach emcee, Blu, have teamed to present the New World Culture Tour. The tour, which will kick off in San Francisco on March 10th, sets the stage for new releases from both acts.

The always eclectic and funkified duo of J*DaVeY (comprised of producer Brook D’Leau and vocalist Briana Cartwright) has released, “Evil Christian Cop : The Great Mistapes“, a 5 track EP that is available for free—but only for a limited time. The EP features co-production by Greg Wells (Teen Spirit) GB (Lazy Daze) and LA-based lyricist Def Sound. With their new deal with big dog Warner Bros. Records, Jack Davey and Brook D’Leau of J*Davey are no longer indie babies. Still the mavericks are steady breathing new life into their former underground scene with this Veronica Hinds’ directed video for “Get It Together.” One of the marquee cuts from one of the three free forthcoming J*Davey’s mixtape EPs, the “Boudoir Syndrome: The Great Mistapes,” “Get It Together” is the kind of unpredictable musical potpourri J*Davey is known for. Between the videos and all the free EPs, I’m sure Davey feigns will be satiated until they can cop J*Davey’s official sophomore project New Designer Drug later this year. Ready to get high?
