Rewind 12 years. The year is 1998. Monica’s debut album, Miss Thang, has gone 3x platinum and her second effort, The Boy is Mine is dominating the charts—thanks in large part to the #1 Billboard Hot 100 status of the title duet track with Brandy and the second single “The First Night”.
“Angel of Mine” the third single off her album was a cover of UK girl group Eternal’s 1997 song. Monica’s version, complete with altered lyrics, hit #1 on the charts and diminished any recollection of the original recording. Quite the Whitney Houston move right?
