Dre Allen – against all odds

Published by Terry Bello on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 10:29 am.

Dre Allen is simply a man who has overcome what some would call an impossible set of odds. Born to a prostitute & a pimp, homeless at the age of 11, subject to physical abuse, molestation, & a judicial system MORE than willing to find a place for him in their lockup facilities. He has been through a turbulent music career and an even more devastating childhood but with impermeable persistence and passion. In his ambitious testimony, Allen has managed to make some progressive and creative music for the masses.

Now performing and recording with her 8-piece band comprised of some of London’s leading musicians. Her debut E.P will soon be available on ITunes. AUTONOMOUS: Guess who Questlove is a fan of…”AMY SERRATA”

Published by Anita Bryant on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 1:34 pm.

Amy Serrata

Amy Serrata is a perfect example of soul music having no boundaries. Her sound and style is timeless and is creating a buzz in the music community.

Amy’s interest in singing arose at an early age listening to the sounds of Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong to name a few. She sung in choir and started singing lessons at the age of 10 years old when she attended Nido De Aguilas, an international school in Santiago, Chile.

In 2006, Amy started singing with the Stanford University Gospel Choir. A couple years later a friend of hers encouraged her to create her own music.

Digital Connection:

“I actually met Questlove from Twitter technology is amazing isn’t it?! He sent me a link saying how I am one of the people that he loves listening to. I met him about a month ago at the Fahrenheit, a club in San Jose, when he was out here doing some dj gigs. I came up to him after his set and he knew my name. I had a press kit for him but he said that he already bought my album and that he is spinning it all over I was floored.” – Amy

Amy is currently focused on performing, working on her next album and writing songs for other artists.

AUTONOMOUS: AYOMARI

Published by Krysten Hughes on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 1:20 pm.

AYOMARIHailing from Los Angeles by way of Atlanta, rapper Ayomari, is stepping his foot into the game, sharing stages with other artists like Pac Div, U-N-I, and Blu. With a self proclaimed style of the “Midwest’s lyricalness, a pinch of Dungeon Family’s boundary pushing, a tinge of southern twang, and a smidge of indie melancholy melody”, this new, young artist is trying to show labels that he can turn heads before “letting the ink hit any papers”. If you like what you see, head over to www.thecafeterialine.com and download The PB&J Solution, a title which describes his “solution for being a starving artist”.

Zion I

Published by Shawn Peters on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 11:57 am.

Zion I

I actually went to Morehouse with Zion and Amp Live of the championed underground Zion I crew. I was in my senior year when they were freshman but we were still there together. I always support my Morehouse brethren and I have been a fan of these dudes since their first full length album entitled Mind over Matter in 2000. That’s 10 years in the game folks, and still doing it strong.

Angelo King featuring New Kingston

Published by Shawn Peters on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 11:37 am.

angelo_king

19 year old Angelo King hails from Rotterdam, Holland and is of Surinamese decent. I first met Angelo while in Rotterdam working with Postman and he asked me to produce a video for him in New York for the first single “Hustling” featuring New Kingston. The New Kingston boys are all brothers raised in Brooklyn but representing their Jamaican heritage through heavy roots and dance hall music. I think the tune represents a nice combination. Let me know that you think.
