Kameron Corvet Remakes Terence Trent D’Arby’s “Sign Your Name”

Published by speters on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 1:11 pm.

Kameron Corvet completely overhauls the 1988 classic Terence Trent D’Arby tune “Sign Your Name,” and makes it his own. Fluent in both English and French, he sings the hook in both languages and doesn’t miss a beat.

IN VIDEO + LISTEN UP// Baloji

Published by speters on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 9:29 am.

Congo born rapper/musician Baloji is a phenomena in Belgium but often finds himself out of place. “Over there, I don’t feel totally Congolese and here, I don’t particularly feel Belgian.” His latest album entitled “Hotel Impala”—which musically presents the quest for identity—is rich with African Rhythms and references (his styling is reminiscent of 60’s and 70’s Sedou Keita). Although he spits in French, it is obvious to the English ear that his flow is sick. Check out these two videos and let us know what you think.

Check the hot underground dance single “I Will Come Back,” by Brooklyn, New York’s own Holy Ghost. Originally a duo—formed by childhood friends Alex Frankel and Nick Millhiser—the act has now transformed into a 4-piece band. If you were so lucky you probably caught the guys on tour this summer alongside the likes of LCD Soundsystem and Chromeo.

Tondrae Kemp, Brings The Fun Back

Published by speters on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 11:26 am.

New Orleans native singer, Tondrae Kemp moved to New York after the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina. In this music video/short film he comically details the true story of his first apartment in Brooklyn and his experiences with a land lord that turned from cool to crazy. The song entitled “Cool Landlord” is the theme song for an independent feature film that Tondrae is writing and directing about his 2 year long introduction to Brooklyn Brownstone living. I hope that you all enjoy this as much as I did.
