Tinie Tempah, is a “Grime” MC from Plumstead, South East London. Tinie’s first music video for promotional single ‘Wifey’, became an underground smash hit holding the UK’s Channel U urban chart top spot for 10 consecutive weeks in 2006. Since then Tinie has appeared on tracks with everyone from M.I.A to Jay Sean and has scored songs for many video games including Wipe Out Pure for PSP. To say that Tinie Tempah is ripping up the London scene right now is an understatement. Check out his new single for the song “Frisky” on his MySpace page and check out the video for his last single “Pass Out” below.

The Dead Weather
Published by speters on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 4:04 pm.The Dead Weather are a new rock outfit consisting of Dean Fertita, Jack Lawrence, Alison Mosshart and Jack White. White and Mosshart are also members of two of my favorite bands The White Stripes and The Kills respectively. Their debut album Whorehound which took the world by storm with their hit single “Hang You From The Heavens.” Yesterday they released their sophomore album entitled Sea of Cowards; from the first listen I can tell that this will be a big seller. Check out the new video for the song entitled “Die By The Drop” off of the Sea of Cowards. I have also included my favorite video from the Whorehound album entitled “Treat Me Like Your Mother.” Get ready for an out the box head bang and enjoy.

Published by speters on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 9:44 am.I’ve been a fan of Francis and the Lights since I first found them on Muxtape in 2008; since then I’ve been following everything that they do. Back in ‘08 I thought that I was one of a small set of folks that knew of Francis until I tried to see him perform at Public Assembly in Williamsburg, Brooklyn one late night and couldn’t get in. The line was around the corner and it was then that I knew that soon those crowds will turn from local to national and beyond. After releasing two great EPs online; Francis and the Lights has finally released their first full length album entitled It’ll Be Better and it is amazing. My favorite tunes on the album so far are the funked out dance songs, “For Days” and “Knees to the Floor.” I’m still getting into the album so I’m sure more favorites will surface. Check out the new video for the tune “Darling; It’s Alright,” and let us know what you think. You can also get a sneak peek of the album from the widget below; enjoy.

Jamie Lidell Live at The Bowery Ballroom
Published by speters on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 4:00 pm.Jamie Lidell began a world wide tour Tuesday night at The Bowery Ballroom in his current resident city of New York. He entered the stage solo with typical Jamie Lidell flare rocking an awesomely flashy, multicolored, shiny; leisure suit. After his first song he riled the audience into a frenzy with “A Little Bit of Feel Good,” from his hit album Jim.
Jamie Lidell is part singer, part comedian, and part vaudeville act and I mean that with the highest regard. The showmanship and lighthearted demeanor endears him to his audience immediately and ensures them a good time, without pretense. He continued by showcasing his nice voice on Motown/Jackson Five-esque uptempo tune “Enough’s Enough” from his upcoming album Compass. The highlight of the show for me when Jamie started playing the song “I Want to be Your Telephone,” a song seeming to be an ode to the 80’s Minneapolis sound of Prince and The Time. It was this moment when the show opened up and it seemed like Jamie was really having fun. To the right of him onstage was a whole set of percussion toys that he played throughout the tune and his drummer; my buddy, Guillermo Brown; burned the stage up along with the rest of the band. After “I Want to be Your Telephone” the band left the stage and Jamie went into one man show mode. He started beat boxing and singing into a recording device that tracked and looped his vocals. He used those sounds to create a dance track live on stage. This lasted for nearly 10 minutes (maybe a bit too long) and appeared to have the crowd captivated. Below you can watch a few seconds of the aforementioned beat box freestyle. I recommend checking Jamie on tour; his show is a sure thing for a good time.
