Leaving her footprints on the music scene in 2007 with her first album Metropolis: Suite I (The Chase) it was obvious that her voice, unique fashion sense, and stage presence was underrated and deserved more attention than it was given.  Janelle Monae signed a partnership deal with Bad Boy Records, so it was silently understood that there would be more to come and greater things on the horizon.

With the release of 2010’s The ArchAndroid (Suites II & III), Monae upped the ante.  The album’s first single “Tightrope” featuring Big Boi was an instant hit amongst the cool kids.  After the success of “Tightrope,” the songstress released a remix featuring Lupe Fiasco and B.o.B. where she tested out her skills as an emcee and succeeded.
