ON CENTRIC SPOTLIGHT//TOMMY DAVIDSON

Published by jjoseph on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 1:46 pm.

Known for his impersonations and impeccable comedic timing, D.C. native Tommy Davidson is one comedian that has managed to forge over 20 successful years in the entertainment industry.

Like Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Lopez, Tommy Davidson got his start on the Keenan Ivory Wayans helmed sketch comedy show, “In Living Color” (of which can be seen on Centric at 10 PM EST nightly).  Davidson flipped his stint on the popular comedy show into a notable acting career. Does “Booty Call”, “Woo” and Spike Lee’s “Bamboozled” and the popular cartoon “Proud Family” ring a bell? We thought so.

The Washington, D.C native recently inked a deal to lend his voice to a pilot of the film turned cartoon “Black Dynamite” to be aired on the Cartoon Network’s “Adult Swim” block.

FLICK CENTRIC SPOTLIGHT// Tatyana Ali

Published by jjoseph on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 11:00 am.

Actress and singer Tatyana Ali is one of the few former child stars who has not found themselves caught in a spiral of scandal. After a successful six years alongside Will Smith on the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air (1990-1996), it seemed she would disappear. Think again. In 1998, she released her gold-selling debut album, Kiss the Sky, which produced two top ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Not resting on her laurels, Ali decided to shift her efforts toward education, and attended Harvard University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in government and African American studies

Fast-forward to 2010, and the 31 year old—with 20 films under her belt and countless television appearances— is currently producing and starring in her BET web series, Buppies; and has a recurring role on The Young and the Restless—not to mention a new sitcom (on a network that shall remain nameless on this site). Quite the career woman right? Catch Tatyana Ali in the Barbershop meets Soul Food-dramedy, Nora’s Hair Salon 2 at 3pm only on Flick Centric.
