Ever wonder about the history of Rosa Parks—one of America’s greatest civil rights figures? In celebration of Black History Month, Centric will air the Emmy nominated biopic, “Ride To Freedom: The Rosa Parks Story” starring Academy Award nominated actress Angela Bassett. Tune in today at 3pm (est) to see how Parks’ bravery changed the face of American history.

In over two decades of acting, Angela Bassett has remained true to only taking movie roles that positively affect the black community. Staying true to this has kept her movies few and far between, but the actress is still bankable. Bassett has accepted a role in This Means War—an action comedy produced Will Smith and also starring Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine. Angela will be playing a job obsessed lifelong spy with no social life. Sounds interesting no?

In other Angela Bassett news: The acclaimed actress is set to star in two other movies (Jumping the Broom and Green Lantern), and One Police Plaza—a new ABC TV series—in which she’ll star as the first female police commissioner of New York.

Looks like 2011 will be a good year for Ms. Bassett. Go Get’em girl!

He is undoubtedly one of the most influential, hip-hop icons of all time.  His untimely death in 1997, moved fans to get to know the man beyond the flash of Versace shades and Coogi sweaters.
