FLICK CENTRIC SPOTLIGHT// Who is Jessy Terrero?

Published by tajchr on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 11:59 am.

Dominican born actor-turned-director Jessy Terrero always knew he was destined to work in front of or behind the camera. After landing an associate producer internship for the movie I Like It Like That in 1996, things seemed unstoppable. Before falling completely into the world of production, Terrero landed small roles in “The Sopranos” and “Law and Order” —all this while nurturing a burgeoning career as a music video director.

Jessy’s first music videos— Jill Scott songs “Gettin’ In The Way” and “Long Walk” back in 2000—garnered him some major attention.  After those two music videos he went on to direct some music vid gems like, Mary J. Blige’s “Runaway Love,” Leona Lewis’s “Bleeding Love,” Sean Paul’s “We Be Burnin’,” and Wisin Y Yandel’s “Ahora Es.” Read the rest of this entry »

REALITY CHECK// THREE REASONS WHY ONE SHOULD MARRY AND STAY COMMITTED

Published by tajchr on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 12:49 pm.

Marriage is associated with words like love and life, but it’s synonym should be commitment.  It’s a step that people take when they decide that love is unconditional and unbreakable.  Relationships may change and may end over time, but marriage is one type of relationship that people are blessed enough to be able to pick the person that they are involved with for the rest of their life.

In the movie I Do…I Did the main characters are involved in a love triangle plagued by lies, lust, and confusion that leads to a road that ultimately ends in disappointment.  The main character is married to two different women at once, and although this situation seems quite outlandish, what isn’t hard to believe is the fact that a person can love more than one person at once and be faced with temptations daily.  We’ve got three reasons to get married and stay committed. Remember: Love comes first. Read the rest of this entry »

Published by DYoung on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 12:36 pm.

The old adage ’Art imitates Life’ might be cliche, but for actress Cherie Johnson (of “Family Matters” fame) it was the perfect catalyst to create the 2009 indie film, ”I Do…I Did”. Finding inspiration from a failed relationship, Johnson flipped the sticky situation into penning and producing the movie, in which she starred as a woman scorned.

“I Do…I Did” chronicles what happens when a man (Marcus Patrick) gets caught juggling two wives and two different lifestyles.

Check out this video of the cast talking about the making of the film.

FLICK CENTRIC SPOTLIGHT//Denzel Almost Didn’t Make “Unstoppable”

Published by DYoung on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 1:39 pm.

It’s not uncommon for actors to turn down roles in major movies, retract, and accept. Denzel Washington almost opted out of working with Director Tony Scott on his upcoming film Unstoppable (out November 12th), because it reminded him of another movie he already worked on–The Taking of Pelham 123.

Tony convinced Washington to do the film, after explaining to him that in this movie, he’d be driving the train and Pelham dealt with a subway. Subtle differences, but enough to get the Academy Award-winning actor to sign on for the film. Whew.

Make sure you tune in for Denzel in the FLICK CENTRIC presentation of “Mo’ Better Blues” Directed by Spike Lee today at 3PM EST only on Centric.
