With two double platinum albums under her belt and a newly released self-titled disc climbing the charts, 2001 was proving to be Aaliyah’s breakout year amongst mainstream audiences. Her undeniable street-sweet style, beauty; and unique talent as a singer, dancer, and actress; would prove to influence the likes of future stars Ciara, Ashanti and even Beyonce.  

Unfortunately, Aaliyah’s life came to an abrupt and unexpected end on August 25, 2001 following a tragic plane crash in The Bahamas—which served as the set of her Hype Williams produced video ”Rock The Boat.”  The video would prove to be a testament to her effortless dance skills and matured vocal ability.  Well on her way to setting the foundation for a lasting career in R&B music,  her contibutions to the world of music still lives—and is fresher than ever.
